Meet Our Doctors
Aaron Studer, DDS
Dr. Studer grew-up in Rapid City and Sioux Falls, SD, graduating from Rapid City Stevens in 1989. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of South Dakota in 1993, where he was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity. Dr. Studer earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit-Mercy and began his private practice in Rapid City, South Dakota in June of 2001. In 2008, he received the Young Dentist of the Year Award from the South Dakota Dental Association.
In addition to providing the highest quality of dental care for his patients, Dr. Studer has lectured for the Partners of Prevention Program for the Coalition of Oral Health for South Dakota. The program’s goal is to instruct doctors in residency about early childhood caries and the importance of getting children into a dental home by age 1. He is the South Dakota state coordinator for the Special Smiles Program with South Dakota Special Olympics. He has participated in February Children’s dental health month by visiting 3rd grades to discussing dental health care. He is a member of dental organizations, such as Academy of Sports Dentistry, American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association and Black Hills Dental Society. He served as President for the BHDS in 2004-2005.
Dr. Studer is active in his community. In 2014-2015 he was the President of Arrowhead Country Club. He was a coach for little league baseball for 8 eight years. He supports youth sports by sponsoring or donating to basketball teams, soccer teams, little league baseball, Post 22 baseball, Post 320 baseball, Stevens High School Booster Club, Canyon Lake All-Stars and Just Jymnastics. As the only South Dakota registered Academy of Sports Dentistry, Dr. Studer is the Official Dentist for the Rapid City Rush Hockey team.
During his leisure time, he and his family enjoy snow skiing, spending time boating and camping at the lake and playing outdoor activities like golf, baseball, tennis, and basketball. He is a movie fan especially super-hero and science fiction movies.
Rob Lyons, DDS
Dr. Rob Lyons grew up in Buffalo, South Dakota where he graduated high school in 2002. During his senior year, he thought dentistry may be in his future; his thoughts were solidified after observing a local dentist. In the fall of 2003, Dr. Rob began his undergraduate studies at South Dakota State University where he graduated with a Biology/Pre-Dental major and Chemistry minor in 2006. After receiving his Bachelor of Science degree, he taught science and coached wrestling and football at Harding County High School. He began dental school at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, NE in 2007 and graduated in 2011. Upon graduating, Dr. Rob was awarded the Department of General Dentistry Award recognizing his outstanding clinical skills and his compassionate, professional approach to patient care.
He is a member of dental organizations, such as American Dental Association, South Dakota Dental Association and Black Hills Dental Society.
Dr. Lyons is active in his community. He participates in February Children’s dental health month by visiting Kindergarten, 1st and 5th graders to talk about dental health care. He has sponsored football teams by providing them with custom mouthguards. As part of the Advanced Dental Professionals office he is an Official Dentist of the Rapid City Rush Hockey team.
The Black Hills of South Dakota is what Dr. Rob calls “home” and is where he enjoys practicing dentistry. When he is not in the office, Dr. Rob enjoys hunting, fly fishing, archery, hiking, and being outdoors. During his days off, he can be found hiking with his dog, Jager, or fishing one of the streams in the hills.
Meet Our Hygienists
Samantha Oviatt, Dental Hygienist
Samantha received her Associates degree in Dental Hygiene from Sheridan College School of Dental Hygiene. Samantha participates with Dr. Studer in Special Smiles for Special Olympics. As one of our friendly dental hygienists, she loves working with our patients and helping them receive the most out of their dental care.
Tami Petersen, Dental Hygienist
Tami graduated in 2004 from University of South Dakota School with a Dental Hygiene associates degree. She is the President for the Black Hills Component of the South Dakota Dental Hygienist Association. She is a member of Sigma Phi Alpha Dental Hygiene honor society. She has volunteered for Ski for Light for the past 20 years. Tami is a valued member of our staff, who enjoys meeting new patients and educating them on their oral health care.
Leslie Greager, Dental Hygienist
Leslie graduated in 1990 from the University of South Dakota School with an associates degree in Dental Hygiene and received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene in 2012 at Minnesota State University. She volunteers on the Delta Dental Care Mobile and Smile Mobile providing preventive care for children and adults with limited access to dental care. Leslie was an Intern Instructor at Western Dakota Technical Institute for Dental Assisting Program. She serves as a Dental Hygiene examiner for the Central Regional Dental Testing Services. She is a member of South Dakota Dental Hygienist Association. She continues to provide the highest level of care to every patient who walks through our doors.
